• Competition Prep: 19 Weeks Out

Thanksgiving has come and gone, which means prep begins on Monday (which is tomorrow!). I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving festivities. I made my way out to Lake Placid, NY to spend the holiday with my parents and brother, and his wife, daughter, and his in-laws. There was so much food…we probably could have called it a day with the number of appetizers we had. My sister-in-law asked us all to bring about 2 things to Thanksgiving, so I chose an appetizer and dessert. The appetizer I made was…

  • Mini Bulk + Future Plans

Mini Bulk I have about 6 weeks. 6 weeks to focus on areas that need work and to build off of what I achieved and learned in the 10-week challenge. In the next 6 weeks, not a whole lot of time, but some damage can definitely be done. My plan is to build but not add to much fluff back to my frame…so sadly have to say no to Ben & Jerry’s and the donuts.๐Ÿ˜ขย I really want to target my delts and mid trap. As well as legs…my hamstrings are…

  • Show Day!

Show day has come and gone…again. Saturday was a long but very fun day. The OCB Pine Tree State is a Pro/Am show, which was awesome because it allowed the amateurs to watch the pro classes. A lot of the same competitors from the first show I did back in March, competed in this show as well. Many familiar and friendly faces backstage. I felt good going into this show, and I’m glad that I didn’t back out. I ended up placing 2nd in Novice and 3rd in Open.ย This show…

  • 2 Days Out

Hey guys! So I am 2 days out from the OCB Pine Tree State Championships that will be happening this Saturday, April 14th. I am so excited that it’s finally here and that I decided to continue onto this show after the OCB Shamrock Cup Classic. This week has been flying by, but also kind of dragging >.< All day yesterday I thought it was Thursday…but it was only Wednesday. I have so many things to do between now and tomorrow before heading to Maine, that I can’t even get…

  • Peak Week, Round 2

Peak Week 6 days out from the OCB Pine Tree State which means it’s peak week! Going into the next 6 days I’m feeling really good. The past 2 weeks have been very stressful, but now things have settled, and I am giving my full attention to this show. When looking back to 4 weeks ago when I had started my 1st peak week, I felt good then, but I also had a lot of doubt. Now mentally I feel better and stronger โ€“ because I know what to expect…

  • 10 Days Out, Round 2

Alright, 10 days to go. This has been a rough one. The first 15 weeks of prep that led to the 1st show werenโ€™t too bad. But adding another 4 weeks of dieting and intense training have definitely taken its toll on me physically and mentally. After today, I have 8 fasted cardio sessions, 6 steady state cardio sessions, and 6 lift sessions leftโ€ฆbut whoโ€™s counting? I really debated dropping out of this show for many reasons, but I am SOO close to being done and Iโ€™m not usually one…

  • Show Day!

Show day has come and gone. I meant to post a day before the show, but honestly didnโ€™t have time. Last week was super busy with trying to get everything done before show day. So, posting now ๐Ÿ˜Š Before I get into show day shenanigans, let me tell you about this spray tan… I knew the tan was dark, I didn’t know how dark though and holy sh*t is it dark. First off, it takes forever to get spray tanned and then forever for it to dry. And it honestly…

  • 4 Days Out!

PEAK WEEK IS HERE!! Itโ€™s Tuesday and we have another snow storm…which means no work, which also means Iโ€™m taking today to update the blog as well as wrap my head around whatโ€™s coming on Saturday. 2 weeks out, I felt good — my energy levels were fairly high and training went well. I must say though; my legs are exhausted from so much cardioโ€ฆthese little leggies are not used to doing cardio 1-2x/day and 6-7 days/week. I amย FOUR days out from my first Figure show. Itโ€™s day 3 of…

  • Week 6/10 Weeks Out

Cut Phase: Jan. 6-12th Itโ€™s Saturday which means week 6 is over and weโ€™re onto week 7. This week I felt EXTREMELY unorganized. Work was busy and a bit stressful between meetings and new people being added to the classes (12+ people in a tiny gym space is CRAZY!) There was a list of things that I had to get done this week, but not all were met, but that is okay! Stuff with work has settled, so this weekend I plan to buckle down and get everything on my…

  • Week 5/11 Weeks Out

Today Iโ€™d like to talk a bit about building and keeping healthy habits. Seeing that itโ€™s the New Year, and everyone plans on setting New Yearโ€™s resolutions. On Monday, Brian and I decided to pick 4 activities that we felt we would benefit from and keep tabs on them for the month of January. Every night we add up our points, and whoever at the end of the month has the most points, wins something (not sure what yet). He is unfortunately beating me right now >.< The activities we…
