    Competition Prep: 19 Weeks Out

Thanksgiving has come and gone, which means prep begins on Monday (which is tomorrow!). I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving festivities. I made my way out to Lake Placid, NY to spend the holiday with my parents and brother, and his wife, daughter, and his in-laws. There was so much food…we probably could have called it a day with the number of appetizers we had. My sister-in-law asked us all to bring about 2 things to Thanksgiving, so I chose an appetizer and dessert. The appetizer I made was Paleo Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Meatballs —- sooo good. And for the dessert I made GF Mini Pumpkin Cheesecakes. But…

    Mini Bulk + Future Plans

Mini Bulk I have about 6 weeks. 6 weeks to focus on areas that need work and to build off of what I achieved and learned in the 10-week challenge. In the next 6 weeks, not a whole lot of time, but some damage can definitely be done. My plan is to build but not add to much fluff back to my frame…so sadly have to say no to Ben & Jerry’s and the donuts.😢 I really want to target my delts and mid trap. As well as legs…my hamstrings are finally starting to grow and pop a bit more, but I want to build out my quads a bit. That’s…

    Show Day!

Show day has come and gone…again. Saturday was a long but very fun day. The OCB Pine Tree State is a Pro/Am show, which was awesome because it allowed the amateurs to watch the pro classes. A lot of the same competitors from the first show I did back in March, competed in this show as well. Many familiar and friendly faces backstage. I felt good going into this show, and I’m glad that I didn’t back out. I ended up placing 2nd in Novice and 3rd in Open. This show was far bigger than the first (37 vs 137 people), so I’m extremely happy to have placed top 3 again…

    2 Days Out

Hey guys! So I am 2 days out from the OCB Pine Tree State Championships that will be happening this Saturday, April 14th. I am so excited that it’s finally here and that I decided to continue onto this show after the OCB Shamrock Cup Classic. This week has been flying by, but also kind of dragging >.< All day yesterday I thought it was Thursday…but it was only Wednesday. I have so many things to do between now and tomorrow before heading to Maine, that I can’t even get a clear list of it all. I do know that I need to go through my bag again, meal prep,…

    Peak Week, Round 2

Peak Week 6 days out from the OCB Pine Tree State which means it’s peak week! Going into the next 6 days I’m feeling really good. The past 2 weeks have been very stressful, but now things have settled, and I am giving my full attention to this show. When looking back to 4 weeks ago when I had started my 1st peak week, I felt good then, but I also had a lot of doubt. Now mentally I feel better and stronger – because I know what to expect on show day, especially the tan, waiting around, eating, etc. Physically, I also look and feel better – I’m looking…

    10 Days Out, Round 2

Alright, 10 days to go. This has been a rough one. The first 15 weeks of prep that led to the 1st show weren’t too bad. But adding another 4 weeks of dieting and intense training have definitely taken its toll on me physically and mentally. After today, I have 8 fasted cardio sessions, 6 steady state cardio sessions, and 6 lift sessions left…but who’s counting? I really debated dropping out of this show for many reasons, but I am SOO close to being done and I’m not usually one to give up. And it would be a great opportunity to get more experience, especially since it’s a larger show.…

    Show Day!

Show day has come and gone. I meant to post a day before the show, but honestly didn’t have time. Last week was super busy with trying to get everything done before show day. So, posting now 😊 Before I get into show day shenanigans, let me tell you about this spray tan… I knew the tan was dark, I didn’t know how dark though and holy sh*t is it dark. First off, it takes forever to get spray tanned and then forever for it to dry. And it honestly sucked trying to sleep that night, had to starfish and sleep in a cold room to the point that I…

    4 Days Out!

PEAK WEEK IS HERE!! It’s Tuesday and we have another snow storm…which means no work, which also means I’m taking today to update the blog as well as wrap my head around what’s coming on Saturday. 2 weeks out, I felt good — my energy levels were fairly high and training went well. I must say though; my legs are exhausted from so much cardio…these little leggies are not used to doing cardio 1-2x/day and 6-7 days/week. I am FOUR days out from my first Figure show. It’s day 3 of being on super low carbs (50g/day) — the first day wasn’t horrible, but day 2 honestly sucked. I was exhausted…

    Week 6/10 Weeks Out

Cut Phase: Jan. 6-12th It’s Saturday which means week 6 is over and we’re onto week 7. This week I felt EXTREMELY unorganized. Work was busy and a bit stressful between meetings and new people being added to the classes (12+ people in a tiny gym space is CRAZY!) There was a list of things that I had to get done this week, but not all were met, but that is okay! Stuff with work has settled, so this weekend I plan to buckle down and get everything on my To Do list done and hopefully begin my week stress free. Since starting this prep, I feel like I have…

    Week 5/11 Weeks Out

Today I’d like to talk a bit about building and keeping healthy habits. Seeing that it’s the New Year, and everyone plans on setting New Year’s resolutions. On Monday, Brian and I decided to pick 4 activities that we felt we would benefit from and keep tabs on them for the month of January. Every night we add up our points, and whoever at the end of the month has the most points, wins something (not sure what yet). He is unfortunately beating me right now >.< The activities we chose together were: 1.      sleep 7 hours/night – definitely don’t get enough sleep 2.      clean eating – this will be…
