• Peak Week #1

It’s Monday…and it’s PEAK WEEK! I’m keeping my head down and charging into this peak week. Right now, all I can say is that I am far more excited and feeling so much better heading into peak week than I did last year. Mentality is far better, physique is better (in my opinion — see comparisons below). This morning I did my last leg day until show day. My legs have been quite tired from training and cardio. I’ve been trying to make a point to stretch after every workout…

  • Trip to Lake Placid, NY

I don’t really like traveling while on a calorie restriction and deep into my competition prep…but I’ll make an exception for my family.😉 Since my niece was born in August, I have been trying to make trips to Lake Placid, NY to see my family at least once a month. After the holidays it become a bit tough due to prep, work, and my brothers work/travel schedule. My brother and his wife work for a ski education program in Lake Placid, my brother being the head coach for the Nordic…

  • Prep 2019: 7 Weeks Out

You Can. You Will. You can, you will, the mantra that I keep repeating every single day, and it is getting me through.  As of yesterday, I am 7 weeks out from my 1st show of the season! I am feeling pretty good. I have been making some changes over the last week and starting to see the adjustments that I want to see, still have a ways to go though. I am registered for the OCB Pine Tree State (yay!). I am extremely excited to be competing in the…

  • Prep 2019: 10 Weeks Out…and 2 Days

WORK. TRAIN. EAT. SLEEP. REPEAT. 72 days seems pretty far away, but April 13th and 27th are just around the corner. The last 3 weeks, I’ve just been chugging along. I think this season so far is progressing much better than last. My understanding and control over my food and eating habits has greatly improved compared to last year. Strangely, I’m a lot more relaxed my planning, I’m not obsessing over the meal plans, and am being much more logical about how I navigate through my macronutrient and training changes…

  • Prep 2019: 13 Weeks out

It’s been a bit since I last updated on where I’m at with my current contest prep situation. I’m 88 days out or 12 weeks and 4 days from my 1st show — the OCB Pine Tree State in Westbrook, ME…but who’s counting? I started prep the Sunday following Thanksgiving, the decision to start at about 20 weeks out was made so I could mentally get myself in the game as well as have some buffer room around the Christmas/New Years time. Last year, I did not do that and…

  • Keep It Simple

Every Sunday, I cook. Why? Because it makes life just a bit simpler and at least 1 part of my week will be a success. 2 years ago, meal prep was not even on my radar, at least not to the point it is today. 2 years ago, I made every excuse not to meal prep, some being the following: It’s too expensive It’s time consuming The food will be wasted I don’t have time I don’t know what to make I can’t eat the same thing every single day…

  • Goodbye 2018. Hello 2019!

Yesterday, I left my parents house in Western Mass to head back to New Hampshire, which gave me a good 4 hours to reflect on this past year. Throughout this month, I have been doing a lot of reflection on 2018 because of the journals that I talked about in a previous post (see here), and because the year is coming to a close in just 5 days. In my drive back it led me to what I know and what I do not know going into 2019. This knowledge…

  • Did You Meal Prep?

Happy Monday! Sunday’s are my big day of meal prepping for the week. Sometimes its a quick prep and other days it takes almost the entire day depending on what I am making. This week I decided to stay simple. Wednesday, I will be hopping on a bus to NYC for Lindsey Stirling’s Wanderland tour (this will be my 5th time seeing her, and 2nd winter tour…not in love with her or her music at all😂). The trip is 6 hours from New Hampshire to NYC 🙄 — therefore I…

  • A Year in Review

Can you believe its December already? We have less than a month until we will be in 2019…crazy! I don’t know about you, but this year flew by for me and so many wonderful things have happened. Please follow and like us:

  • Competition Prep: 19 Weeks Out

Thanksgiving has come and gone, which means prep begins on Monday (which is tomorrow!). I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving festivities. I made my way out to Lake Placid, NY to spend the holiday with my parents and brother, and his wife, daughter, and his in-laws. There was so much food…we probably could have called it a day with the number of appetizers we had. My sister-in-law asked us all to bring about 2 things to Thanksgiving, so I chose an appetizer and dessert. The appetizer I made was…
