• Peak Week #1

It’s Monday…and it’s PEAK WEEK! I’m keeping my head down and charging into this peak week. Right now, all I can say is that I am far more excited and feeling so much better heading into peak week than I did last year. Mentality is far better, physique is better (in my opinion — see comparisons below). This morning I did my last leg day until show day. My legs have been quite tired from training and cardio. I’ve been trying to make a point to stretch after every workout…

  • Prep 2019: 7 Weeks Out

You Can. You Will. You can, you will, the mantra that I keep repeating every single day, and it is getting me through.ย  As of yesterday, I am 7 weeks out from my 1st show of the season! I am feeling pretty good. I have been making some changes over the last week and starting to see the adjustments that I want to see, still have a ways to go though. I am registered for the OCB Pine Tree State (yay!). I am extremely excited to be competing in the…

  • Prep 2019: 10 Weeks Out…and 2 Days

WORK. TRAIN. EAT. SLEEP. REPEAT. 72 days seems pretty far away, but April 13th and 27th are just around the corner. The last 3 weeks, I’ve just been chugging along. I think this season so far is progressing much better than last. My understanding and control over my food and eating habits has greatly improved compared to last year. Strangely, I’m a lot more relaxed my planning, I’m not obsessing over the meal plans, and am being much more logical about how I navigate through my macronutrient and training changes…

  • Prep 2019: 13 Weeks out

It’s been a bit since I last updated on where I’m at with my current contest prep situation. I’m 88 days out or 12 weeks and 4 days from my 1st show — the OCB Pine Tree State in Westbrook, ME…but who’s counting? I started prep the Sunday following Thanksgiving, the decision to start at about 20 weeks out was made so I could mentally get myself in the game as well as have some buffer room around the Christmas/New Years time. Last year, I did not do that and…

  • Competition Prep: 19 Weeks Out

Thanksgiving has come and gone, which means prep begins on Monday (which is tomorrow!). I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving festivities. I made my way out to Lake Placid, NY to spend the holiday with my parents and brother, and his wife, daughter, and his in-laws. There was so much food…we probably could have called it a day with the number of appetizers we had. My sister-in-law asked us all to bring about 2 things to Thanksgiving, so I chose an appetizer and dessert. The appetizer I made was…

  • Changes Happen

Itโ€™s a love/hate relationship. The body can do amazing things (many of which we take for granted), and one of those things being how quickly our bodies can change. It can be extremely discouraging with of how quickly or slowly the body changes – gaining โ€œbadโ€ weight always seems to be far easier than losing it, and losing muscle happens faster than building it. It can be challenging to target body mass fluctuations because they can be caused by a multitude of things such as diet, training, gender, hormones, etc.,…

  • Mini Bulk + Future Plans

Mini Bulk I have about 6 weeks. 6 weeks to focus on areas that need work and to build off of what I achieved and learned in the 10-week challenge. In the next 6 weeks, not a whole lot of time, but some damage can definitely be done. My plan is to build but not add to much fluff back to my frame…so sadly have to say no to Ben & Jerry’s and the donuts.๐Ÿ˜ขย I really want to target my delts and mid trap. As well as legs…my hamstrings are…

  • Reverse Diet

Reverse Diet What is it? – Reverse dieting is the period after a calorie restricted phase where you slowly build/increase your caloric intake back to maintenance or above maintenance calories. What’s the purpose of a reverse diet? – When you’re in a calorie deficit for a certain amount of time, your body becomes accustomed to the amount of fuel that it’s taking in. If you start adding too much, too quickly, there will be overflow. Your body won’t know what to do with the large influx of carbs and fats…

  • 10 Week Challenge: Finale!

The Challenge is over! I submitted my final photos and measurements last night = officially done. Looking back on the past 10 weeks, I am very happy that I decided to take part in this challenge. When I chose to join the challenge, it wasnโ€™t because of the idea of winning 1st or 2nd place and getting a photoshoot with Nicole Wilkinโ€™s or winning $1,500 (even though both would be nice). Rather I did it for myself, to push myself โ€“ mentally and physically, and to prepare and motivate myself…

  • 10 Week Challenge: Week 9

1 WEEK LEFT! 9 weeks of the challenge are complete. Only 7 days left to go! The challenge has flown by, which also means summer did too and it’s already officially fall which is f*cking crazy! With summer and this challenge coming to a close, it’s going to be a bit weird. This is the 1st fall season that I am not in school…and am working full-time between 2 jobs and it’s great! Surprisingly not missing classes or the routine of having class and clinical. I am excited to start…
