• Prep 2019: 13 Weeks out

It’s been a bit since I last updated on where I’m at with my current contest prep situation. I’m 88 days out or 12 weeks and 4 days from my 1st show — the OCB Pine Tree State in Westbrook, ME…but who’s counting? I started prep the Sunday following Thanksgiving, the decision to start at about 20 weeks out was made so I could mentally get myself in the game as well as have some buffer room around the Christmas/New Years time. Last year, I did not do that and…

  • Competition Prep: 19 Weeks Out

Thanksgiving has come and gone, which means prep begins on Monday (which is tomorrow!). I hope you all enjoyed your Thanksgiving festivities. I made my way out to Lake Placid, NY to spend the holiday with my parents and brother, and his wife, daughter, and his in-laws. There was so much food…we probably could have called it a day with the number of appetizers we had. My sister-in-law asked us all to bring about 2 things to Thanksgiving, so I chose an appetizer and dessert. The appetizer I made was…

  • Mini Bulk + Future Plans

Mini Bulk I have about 6 weeks. 6 weeks to focus on areas that need work and to build off of what I achieved and learned in the 10-week challenge. In the next 6 weeks, not a whole lot of time, but some damage can definitely be done. My plan is to build but not add to much fluff back to my frame…so sadly have to say no to Ben & Jerry’s and the donuts.๐Ÿ˜ขย I really want to target my delts and mid trap. As well as legs…my hamstrings are…

  • Reverse Diet

Reverse Diet What is it? – Reverse dieting is the period after a calorie restricted phase where you slowly build/increase your caloric intake back to maintenance or above maintenance calories. What’s the purpose of a reverse diet? – When you’re in a calorie deficit for a certain amount of time, your body becomes accustomed to the amount of fuel that it’s taking in. If you start adding too much, too quickly, there will be overflow. Your body won’t know what to do with the large influx of carbs and fats…

  • Rebound Weekend

It has been 2 weeks since the end of the 10 Week Challenge. And I did not stick to my plan… I had a reverse diet plan written up ready to go for the Monday following the end of the challenge. And I will say, I did stick to that 1st weeks meal plan pretty well. But I did have wine like every night, had Ben & Jerry’s, binged on Ritz crackers, and a few other things. Monday through Thursday, I did decently well, sticking to the plan throughout the…

  • 10 Week Challenge: Finale!

The Challenge is over! I submitted my final photos and measurements last night = officially done. Looking back on the past 10 weeks, I am very happy that I decided to take part in this challenge. When I chose to join the challenge, it wasnโ€™t because of the idea of winning 1st or 2nd place and getting a photoshoot with Nicole Wilkinโ€™s or winning $1,500 (even though both would be nice). Rather I did it for myself, to push myself โ€“ mentally and physically, and to prepare and motivate myself…

  • 10 Week Challenge: Week 9

1 WEEK LEFT! 9 weeks of the challenge are complete. Only 7 days left to go! The challenge has flown by, which also means summer did too and it’s already officially fall which is f*cking crazy! With summer and this challenge coming to a close, it’s going to be a bit weird. This is the 1st fall season that I am not in school…and am working full-time between 2 jobs and it’s great! Surprisingly not missing classes or the routine of having class and clinical. I am excited to start…

  • 10 Week Challenge: Week 8

Week 8 is coming to a close! And what a crazy week it has been… New position at work, car search, my dad visiting, keeping up with clients, adding clients…lots of things! On top of training at Limitless, I am now taking on the responsibility of their Administrative Assistant, which I am super excited about. When I started there I was really looking into getting into a position where I had a good split of personal training and management responsibilities. And they have now granted me with both! Lots of…

  • 10 Week Challenge: Week 7 Wrap Up

2 Phases down, 1 more to go! The last week of this phase was definitely interesting. I maintained my normal schedule of lifting and doing cardio early in the morning. At the beginning of the week I was hoping to shift my workouts to mid-morning, but my schedule just wasn’t going to allow that last week. After traveling over Labor Day weekend and spending about 10 hours total in the car over a 3-day period, my body felt like shitโ€ฆso luckily Monday I had a massage. Unfortunately, a wrench was…

  • 10 Week Challenge: Week 5 Wrap Up

Made it through week 5 and officially at the half way point of this Challenge! Training This weekโ€™s training was quite a bit different from the previous 4 weeks. 6 lifts per week in a Push/Pull/Leg format. The workouts took me about 50-60 minutes to complete, limited rest between sets and great intensity. Reps have increased from 8-12 range to 10-15โ€ฆIโ€™m not a fan of higher reps. But outside of the high reps, the workouts are absolutely killer. Kind of happy that this phase is only 3 weeksโ€ฆhopefully the last…
